Cybernavigators Program
Run at 42 library locations citywide

Chicago Public Libraries have started a comprehensive set of computer classes, most of which are designed to teach the basics to new and novice users. Class topics include: computer basics, Internet and email usage, online job search and resume writing, Internet research, and how to use the CPL site.

Korean American Community Services (KACS)

KACS has a community technology center (a computer lab-- actually they have two labs) that is setup with some self-paced basic computing skills software. The classes they currently offer (July 2010) are: Windows 7, Word 2003, Excel 2003. Classes are free in English, there is a fee for Korean language-based classes. Call for class dates and times.

Casa Central runs a number of classes: MS Office (non-certification), Beginner and Intermediate Computer Use, and the Internet. They also have open lab hours Monday through Thursday. Classes are all free and are run in English and Spanish.

YWCA offers classes at the two locations listed above. They regularly offer a basics class (called Intro to Computer Technology) that is 4 sessions, meeting once per week. The cost is $50, but classes are free through the end of the 2010 summer. They also offer a 6-session MS Office workship for $65, Web Development workshops, and Social Media workshops. Seniors (55+) get a $10 discount.
